Hello.
My name is Laura Heeks.
I am a Brighton based graphic designer, illustrator and sometimes amateur photographer.
As you will see from the identity of this website, the key attributes I have to offer as a designer are brains, eyes and hands
– in other words intelligence, a natural eye for design aesthetics and excellent practical skills to realise design concepts into
beautiful, sensitively executed pieces of graphic design for my clients.
I graduated from LCC's Postgraduate Certificate in Design for Visual Communication with a distinction. The Postgraduate
Certificate acts like a conversion course for design, preparing students for masters level study or practice – it covers theory and practice in; typography, identity, lay-out, visual grammar, image-making, info-graphics and more. I feel that the course has given
me a strong framework and methodology for researching any design project and fantastic hands on skills for bringing design solutions to life.
In addition to my design credentials, I also have a multitude of non-design skills and expertise that support my work as
a creative professional. I took the long route to becoming a graphic designer, and so having an English Literature degree
and 3 years marketing experience significantly bolsters my offering as a smart and concept-driven designer who can provide
well-considered, rational advice on strategy and express ideas confidently and articulately.
